Many concepts of map navigation can be applied to everyday digital products. One of the concepts is the natural human ability to navigate and to learn. In my talk, I will introduce 5 key principles of the cartographic navigation theory that influence learning processes and I will show how they relate to everyday digital products. After the talk, the audience should understand (1) that and in what way digital products support or hinder the learning process, (2) how we as designers and researchers influence this process, and (3) what we can do to support this process.
